Bass Priority is the link between This garden is only temporary and the next album, due for release in January 2024.
On 'This garden' I started out with the spoken word. You can hear it in 'Another Sunny Day' and 'Everything's Turning White', but these songs, and eventually the whole album, took a different path. When it was completed, I knew there was still one instrumental track in search of lyrics, and that's where I started the new album.
Since I was a teenager, the bass was the only instrument I could really play. I love the acoustic guitar, and that's where I found my voice, but it's always been all about the bass. For the world too, it is fundamental. On this track I improvised five bass tracks on top of each other and took it from there.
When the words came, it was a story about colonisation. I was sitting on ancient land, thinking about what happened in Ireland, and then in the continent we now call Australia. These things resonate in our soul.
I am releasing it ahead of the album in support of the referendum to pass the request of the Uluru Statement from the Heart. You can find the statement here

The only answer is YES. And that's where the first bass track I recorded here started.
See you later in the year with the whole album.
